Who is Krampus?
Krampus is a goatlike anthropomorphic figure originating from the Alpine region’s folk tradition. His earliest origins are clouded in mystery, but beginning in the late 17th century, he was known to accompany Saint Nicholas every December 5th, Krampusnacht. This is the day before the annual Feast of Saint Nicholas on the 6th. On Krampusnacht, Saint Nicholas rewards good children with gifts while Krampus punishes the naughty ones by beating them with a cluster of birch rods.
He is still honored in many traditions in both Europe and the USA today. Krampuslauf (Krampus Run) parades are popular in Europe and these and other similar events are gaining more traction in the States with each passing year.

We took equal parts inspiration from the black cats representing the Witch City of Salem, plus the Yule Cat.
Who is the Yule Cat, you may ask?
The Yule Cat, Jólakötturinn, is a giant cat from Icelandic folklore. During the holiday season, it roams the countryside in search of people who haven’t received new clothing for Christmas. The Yule Cat is said to eat those people… or sometimes, just their food, depending on who you ask. This tale likely encouraged people to gift one another clothing to ensure protection from the harsh Icelandic winters.
